Here Lies My Family Name

Writer: Sine Pleure PlumeSine Pleure Plume

Bells sang in melodic hymns, the chapters anew.

The path in hues, a walk in the clouds

Petals of summer’s day that marked our beginning scattered.

In every step, my heart leaps in rhythm

As I drew near, echoes of our joyous history streamed like the rivers in Italy.

An abode by the sea, the setting sun- the witness of our stolen embrace

Bloody red stains, a glimpse of toe-curling screams

Your eyes shimmered in a whisper so soft, enough but wasn’t.

Here I await- standing, my heart dreading for this moment,

While the masses applaud for the woman in white, my whole world has ended.

You smiled in satisfaction, a kiss sealed in conclusion.

A funeral march for the very day, unrequited became - my family name.

Author's Note: This poem is inspired by metaphysical poetry characteristics. It is about how even though how intimate your feelings are towards another; you'll never be on par with someone that person you love chose to spend their lifetime with.
